No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would allow steam generators manufactured on or after January 1, 1970 to operate for a longer period without an inspection, saving owners the costs to halt operations for inspection. The bill would also allow process steam generators manufactured before January 1, 1970 to operate for a longer period without an inspection if an engineer reports that conditions required for the extra extension have been met.
The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation reports it could review any applications for a 24-month extension and the reports submitted with them with existing resources. The provisions of the bill could result in an increase in revenue from extra applications but the amount would not be significant.
The bill would take effect September 1, 2019.
