No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure to lower from 15 to 10 years the length of time that an officer authorized to collect a criminal fee or item of cost must wait before requesting the trial court to make a finding that the fee or cost is uncollectible. The bill would also repeal a provision that makes existing uncollectible provisions applicable only to certain counties.
According to the Office of Court Administration, no significant fiscal impact to the state court system is anticipated.
