IN RE:
HB2376 by Johnson, Julie (Relating to the award of attorney's fees in certain civil actions.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Civil Practice and Remedies Code to repeal the section which makes certain attorney fee recovery provisions inapplicable to a contract issued by an insurer. The repeal would apply only to a cause of action that accrues on or after September 1, 2019. Based on the analysis of the Office of Court Administration, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished using existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
