HB2421 by Smith (Relating to the issuance of certain warrants and orders for searches performed on wireless communications devices and for the installation and use of certain tracking equipment.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure to expand the scope of jurisdiction under which a warrant for access to cellular telephone or other wireless communications device may be issued.
 
Based on the analysis of the Office of Court Administration, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished using existing resources.

The bill would take effect September 1, 2019.

Local Government Impact

According to the Texas Association of Counties, no fiscal implication to counties is anticipated.
