The fiscal implications of the bill cannot be determined at this time
Based on analysis by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection, the provisions of the bill relating to testing and certification of fire inspectors will result in a revenue loss to the state. The revenue loss would be attributed to a reduction in examination, certification, and renewal fees. However, because the volume of fire inspectors not seeking state certification cannot be reasonably estimated, the fiscal impact to the state cannot be determined at this time.
Local Government Impact
The Tarrant County Fire Marshall reports that the bill could have a fiscal impact on counties with populations in excess of 100,000, but in an amount that cannot be determined.
The Texas Municipal League does not anticipate a significant fiscal impact to cities.
