HB2467 by Zedler (Relating to training requirements applicable to a jailer at a private correctional facility.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Occupations Code to decrease the amount of time a jailer in a correctional facility operated by a private vendor has to satisfactorily complete a preparatory training program.  The bill also places limits on the percentage of jailers in a private facility who have not completed this training.

According to the Commission on Jail Standards (CJS), the bill would have no fiscal impact to the agency.

Local Government Impact

According to CJS the bill could impact local government if they have contracted operation of their jail out to a private vendor.

According to the Texas Association of Counties, the bill is not expected to have a significant impact on counties.
