FISCAL NOTE, 86TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 13, 2019

TO:
Honorable Robert Nichols, Chair, Senate Committee on Transportation

FROM:
John McGeady, Assistant Director     Sarah Keyton, Assistant Director
Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2475 by Guillen (Relating to the indigent status of a person for purposes of the driver responsibility program.), As Engrossed

The fiscal implications of the bill cannot be determined at this time.

The bill would allow a person to provide information to the court establishing the person as indigent at any time during a period the person is enrolled in an installment plan with the Driver Responsibility Program (DRP).

According to the Comptroller of Public Accounts, the bill's provisions could reduce DRP collections. As the program does not collect income data on all individuals that owe DRP surcharges, the fiscal implications of such a reduction cannot be determined.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
