IN RE:
HB2503 by Kacal (Relating to workers' compensation death benefit eligibility for certain spouses of certain employees killed in the line of duty.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Labor Code relating to workers' compensation death benefit eligibility for certain spouses of certain employees killed in the line of duty. Based on information provided by the Texas Department of Insurance, State Office of Risk Management, Commission on Law Enforcement, The University of Texas System Administration, and Texas A&M University System Administration, this analysis assumes that the duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.

Local Government Impact

According to the Texas Association of Counties, no fiscal impact on the Texas Association of Counties' Risk Management Pool is anticipated. Based on current law, the Pool already provides a death benefit for the surviving spouses of first responders, including peace officers, who died in the line of duty.
