IN RE:
HB2519 by Allen (Relating to the reporting of certain information on felony defendants placed on community supervision who are young adults and to certain measures to reduce the revocation rate of those defendants.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government Code to require local Community Supervision and Corrections Departments (CSCDs) to report certain information on felony defendants placed on community supervision to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice's Community Justice Assistance Division (CJAD). The bill would permit CJAD to provide technical assistance to certain counties. The bill would also require CJAD to give priority to certain CSCDs when awarding grants. According to TDCJ, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within existing resources. The bill would take effect September 1, 2019.

Local Government Impact
