IN RE:
HB2638 by Calanni (Relating to locations for conducting certain court proceedings.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government Code to provide the relocation of district court, statutory county court, and constitutional county court proceedings following a disaster. The bill repeals references to first tier and second tier coastal counties and expands provisions to all counties during a disaster. Based on the analysis of the Office of Court Administration, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished using existing resources.

The bill would take effect September 1, 2019.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
