IN RE:
HB2661 by Blanco (Relating to requiring school districts to adopt a policy regarding the idling of the engine of a school bus.), As Introduced
No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
Local Government Impact
The bill would require the board of trustees of each school district to adopt policies designed to minimize the amount of time that bus operators spend idling bus engines. School districts could see increased costs associated with developing and implementing policies related to bus idling.
In addition, the bill authorizes districts to take a number of actions designed to maximize the efficiency of their policy, such as offering training, using technology to reduce idling, and developing and implementing student educational programs. There would likely be additional costs to districts choosing to implement these actions.
