The bill would amend the Labor Code relating to workers' compensation death benefit eligibility for certain spouses of first responders and certain other public servants killed in the line of duty. Based on information provided by the Texas Department of Insurance, State Office of Risk Management, and Commission on Law Enforcement, this analysis assumes that the duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.
