IN RE:
HB2688 by Metcalf (Relating to the creation of a specialty treatment court for certain individuals residing with a child who is the subject of a juvenile court case.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Government Code to permit a county commissioner's court to establish a Juvenile Family Drug Court Program. Based on the analysis of the Office of Court Administration (OCA), duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished using existing resources.
The bill would take effect September 1, 2019.
Local Government Impact
According to the OCA, local courts will incur costs if they choose to create a Juvenile Family Drug Court Program. The bill provides that a county may use court improvement project money or explore the availability of federal or state matching money to finance a new specialty court.
