IN RE:
HB2762 by Landgraf (Relating to exercise of authority by a personal representative of a decedent's estate without court approval.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Estates Code to allow a personal representative of a decedent's estate, without application to or order of the court, to hire an accountant, a bookkeeper, a tax professional, a real estate agent, and an appraiser. It would also authorize the representative to pay any reasonable cost for the care and maintenance of estate property and to exercise certain powers on behalf of the estate. Based on the analysis of the Office of Court Administration, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished using existing resources.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
