No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Government Code to require the Texas Department of Criminal Justice to identify certain community resources available to certain offenders with intellectual or developmental disabilities. The bill would also require TDCJ to develop a reentry and reintegration plan for eligible offenders. According to TDCJ, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within existing resources. The bill would take effect September 1, 2019.
