No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Government Code to require the Texas Department of Criminal Justice to identify certain community resources available to offenders in the Developmentally Disabled Offender Program. The bill would also require TDCJ to develop an individual reentry plan for these same offenders. According to TDCJ, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within existing resources. The bill would take effect September 1, 2019.
