No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure to add a statement made by a person with a disability to the provisions that limit statements for which the hearsay exception applies in certain sexual or assaultive offenses committed against a child or person with a disability. Based on the analysis of the Office of Court Administration, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.
The bill would take effect September 1, 2019.
