It is assumed that the provisions of the bill relating to prohibited adverse employment action against a first responder based on mental illness could be absorbed using existing resources.

Cameron County anticipates a fiscal impact between $250,000 and $550,000 annually for additional staff and mental health assessments of first responders both during the hiring and employment process.
