Fiscal Analysis
The bill would create the Texas Commission on Judicial Selection to study and review the method by which statutory county court judges (including statutory probate court judges), district judges, and appellate justices and judges are selected for office in Texas. The Commission would consist of 15 members. The Office of Court Administration (OCA) would provide administrative support to the Commission.
Methodology
OCA estimates the need for a researcher and a data analyst (judicial information specialist) to write reports, coordinate meetings, analyze data and provide other resources and support. This analysis does not account for any reimbursement of travel expenses requested by the commission members.
Local Government Impact
No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
