No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure to allow criminal court judges to set a bail schedule for offenses under their jurisdiction and a person charged with an offense on the schedule to waive appearance before a magistrate and obtain release under the bail schedule.
Based on the analysis of the Office of Court Administration, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished using existing resources.
The bill would take effect September 1, 2019.
