Honorable Dan Huberty, Chair, House Committee on Public Education
FROM:
John McGeady, Assistant Director Sarah Keyton, Assistant Director Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
HB3387 by Anchia ( Relating to abolishing a dissolution committee established to abolish certain county boards of education or boards of county school trustees and appointing commissioners courts to assume the duties of the dissolution committee.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted
No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Acts of the 85th Legislature, 2017, to abolish certain existing dissolution committees on the fixed date of September 1, 2019 rather than existing law which would abolish the committee on the date certain debt obligations are paid in full. The bill would transfer certain functions of the committee to the commissioners court of the county the committee is located within. The bill would repeal certain provisions of the Acts of the 85th Legislature, 2017, as conforming changes.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated as the fiscal authority of dissolution committees affected by the bill would be transferred to the local commissioners courts.
