No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend Chapter 40 of the Human Resources Code to require the Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) to implement a training program for adult protective services employees on interacting with individuals with Alzheimer's disease or dementia. The bill also would require area agencies on aging to ensure that employees and volunteers receive training on Alzheimer's disease and dementia. DFPS and the Health and Human Services Commission determined that the provisions of the bill could be implemented using existing resources. The bill would take effect September 1, 2019.
