IN RE:
HB3541 by Rose (Relating to a study and pilot program regarding the use of incentives to purchase certain fruits or vegetables under the supplemental nutrition assistance program.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend Chapter 33 of the Human Resources Code to require the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) to establish a pilot program to incentivize the purchase of certain fruits and vegetables under the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and form a work group to provide input. The bill would require HHSC, in consultation with the work group, to conduct a study on programs that provide incentives for the purchase of certain fruits and vegetables and submit a report. HHSC estimates there would be a minimal cost associated with implementing the provisions of the bill. It is assumed that these costs could be absorbed within existing resources.
Local Government Impact
No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
