LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 86TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 17, 2019

TO:
Honorable John Zerwas, Chair, House Committee on Appropriations

FROM:
John McGeady, Assistant Director     Sarah Keyton, Assistant Director
Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB3635 by Turner, John (relating to financial assistance paid to the survivors of certain law enforcement officers, firefighters, and other public employees killed in the line of duty.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would adjust the financial assistance paid to the survivors of certain individuals killed in the line of duty by the percentage change in the Consumer Price Index for Urban Commissioners, beginning in fiscal year 2021. While the occurrence and timing of these events are too difficult to predict, this analysis assumes that the provisions of the bill could be absorbed using existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
