FISCAL NOTE, 86TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 15, 2019

TO:
Honorable Lois W. Kolkhorst, Chair, Senate Committee on Health & Human Services

FROM:
John McGeady, Assistant Director     Sarah Keyton, Assistant Director
Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB3738 by Goldman (Relating to creating an Internet website of certain day-care providers and parenting resources.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) to maintain a single Internet website of child day-care providers. According to HHSC, the provisions of the bill would require the agency to collect, develop, analyze, or maintain new data elements or establish new data collection, sharing, and tracking mechanisms. HHSC also indicates that the bill would require database changes to several related applications and could have a minimal cost. LBB analysis of HHSC indicates that the agency could accomplish these activities within existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
