IN RE:
HB3879 by Ramos (Relating to the participation of armed forces members in a marriage ceremony through video conference technology.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Family Code and the Government Code to permit a member of the armed forces to participate in a marriage ceremony via proxy or videoconferencing supported by a signed affidavit and would require a justice of the peace to provide certain specified videoconference technology for the ceremony.

According to the Office of Court Administration (OCA), no significant impact to the state court system is anticipated.

Local Government Impact

According to OCA, there could be a cost to local courts related to the purchase of video technology as required by the bill. As some courts could already have this technology, the cost could vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction.
