FISCAL NOTE, 86TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 22, 2019

TO:
Honorable Dan Huberty, Chair, House Committee on Public Education

FROM:
John McGeady, Assistant Director     Sarah Keyton, Assistant Director
Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB4094 by Beckley (Relating to school district grace period policies and the provision of meals to public school students with insufficient balances on prepaid meal cards or meal accounts.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

It is assumed that the provisions of the bill relating to school district grace period policies and the provision of meals to public school students with insufficient balances on prepaid meal cards or meal accounts could be absorbed using existing resources.

Local Government Impact

The bill may have a fiscal impact on school districts, depending on the option selected for serving food to students with a negative balance, additional parental contact requirements, and the amount of monetary losses that could be offset by private donations.
