LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 86TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 8, 2019

TO:
Honorable Chris Turner, Chair, House Committee on Higher Education

FROM:
John McGeady, Assistant Director     Sarah Keyton, Assistant Director
Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB4098 by Beckley (Relating to reports of sexual assault made to public or private institutions of higher education.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill relates to reports of sexual assault made to public or private institutions of higher education.
Under provisions of the bill, the Higher Education Coordinating Board (Board) would be required to identify institutions of higher education or private or independent institutions of higher education that fail to comply with requirements of the bill and post a list of noncompliant institutions on the Board's website. This analysis assumes that any costs for the Board and institutions of higher education to implement the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within current resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
