No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Civil Practice and Remedies Code to provide that a municipality has standing to bring or intervene in a civil action if the municipality deems the intervention necessary to protect or defend the rights of a resident of the municipality.
Based on the analysis of the Office of Court Administration, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished using existing resources.
The bill would take effect September 1, 2019.
