April 22, 2019

TO:
Honorable Dan Huberty, Chair, House Committee on Public Education

FROM:
John McGeady, Assistant Director     Sarah Keyton, Assistant Director
Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB4578 by Gervin-Hawkins (Relating to the inclusion of instruction regarding culturally inclusive curriculum reflecting the cultural, linguistic and religious diversity of society.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

It is assumed that the provisions of the bill relating to the inclusion of instruction regarding culturally inclusive curriculum reflecting the cultural, linguistic and religious diversity of society could be absorbed using existing resources.

Local Government Impact

The bill would require school districts to seek input from local law enforcement agencies, driver training schools, and the community if the decision is made to tailor the instruction. The bill may result in costs for districts to the extent that the bill requires districts to use the culturally inclusive instruction; costs would vary by district.
