No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would require the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) to study the cost of child care in the state compared to family income. The study would examine trends in and projections for child-care costs; child care costs compared to family income based on federal poverty guidelines, state median income, or other relevant standard; and the amount of governmental money estimated or available to support subsidized child care. The study would also estimate the number of families eligible for subsidized child care. TWC would report the results of the study by December 15, 2020.
The agency indicates that the provisions of the bill could be absorbed using existing resources.
