HJR62 by Murr (proposing a constitutional amendment authorizing the denial of bail to an accused person if necessary to ensure the person’s appearance in court and the safety of the community and the victim of the alleged offense.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated, other than the cost of publication.

The cost to the state for publication of the resolution is $177,289.

The resolution would propose an amendment to the Texas Constitution to provide that a person accused of a violent or sexual offense may be denied bail pending trial if a judge or magistrate determines that requiring bail is insufficient to ensure the person's appearance in court or the safety of the alleged victim or community.
 
The proposed amendment would be submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 5, 2019.

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
