No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated, other than the cost of publication.

The cost to the state for publication of the resolution is $177,289.

The resolution would propose an amendment to the Texas Constitution to require certain state judges that are currently elected to be appointed to their positions by the Governor of Texas, subject to nonpartisan retention elections.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
