TO:

FROM:

IN RE:
SB121 by West (Relating to the adoption of cats and dogs previously used for research.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would allow research facilities associated with institutions of higher education to offer animals that have been previously used for experiments for education, research, science, or testing, but that are no longer needed for those purposes, for adoption either through certain animal rescue agencies or by certain individuals.

The Health and Human Services Commission, University of Texas System, and Texas A&M System indicate that the provisions of the bill could be absorbed with existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
