IN RE:
SB284 by Hinojosa (Relating to disciplinary proceedings applicable to a licensed forensic analyst.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure to require the Forensic Science Commission to give notice to a forensic analyst of disciplinary action the commission has determined should be imposed on the scientist, describes when the accused can request a hearing before the Judicial Branch Certification Commission, and sets out the procedure for these hearings. Based on the analysis of the Office of Court Administration and the State Office of Administrative Hearings, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.
