FISCAL NOTE, 86TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 22, 2019

TO:
Honorable Dan Patrick, Lieutenant Governor, Senate

FROM:
John McGeady, Assistant Director     Sarah Keyton, Assistant Director
Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB372 by Campbell (Relating to the authority of an open-enrollment charter school to employ security personnel, commission peace officers, and have school resource officers.), As Passed 2nd House

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

It is assumed that the provisions of the bill relating to the authority of an open-enrollment charter school to employ security personnel, commission peace officers, and to have school resource officers could be absorbed using existing resources.

Local Government Impact

Charter schools who elect to employ security personnel may incur additional costs, including the legal costs to implement an MOU with a local law enforcement agency and administrative costs to receive approval from the Commissioner to amend the charter school's terms.
