No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Penal Code to extend an existing offense concerning false statements to certain law enforcement employees to include correctional officers and jailers. An offense under this bill would be a Class B misdemeanor.
According to the Office of Court Administration (OCA), while this bill expands a criminal offense, any increase in workload is anticipated to be handled with existing resources. Therefore, no significant fiscal impact to the state court system is anticipated.
