FISCAL NOTE, 86TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 14, 2019

TO:
Honorable Dan Huberty, Chair, House Committee on Public Education

FROM:
John McGeady, Assistant Director     Sarah Keyton, Assistant Director
Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB686 by Alvarado ( Relating to personal financial literacy courses for high school students in public schools.), Committee Report 2nd House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

It is assumed that the provisions of the bill relating to courses in personal financial literacy for high school students in public schools could be absorbed using existing resources.

Local Government Impact

School districts that opt to offer the new course provided under the bill would likely incur costs relating to instructional materials and teacher training. These costs would vary by district, and participation is voluntary.
