IN RE:
SB756 by Hinojosa (Relating to the participation of eligible nonprofit organizations in the Jobs and Education for Texans (JET) Grant program.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Education Code relating to the participation of eligible nonprofit organizations in the Jobs and Education for Texans (JET) Grant program. The bill would allow nonprofit organizations to become an eligible recipient of JET grant funds to prepare low-income students for careers in high-demand occupations. This analysis assumes that the allowance of grants to nonprofit organizations would have a minimal effect on the overall level of awards.
Based on the analysis of the Texas Workforce Commission, it is assumed that the duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.
The bill would apply to grants awarded for the 2020-21 academic year. The bill would take effect on September 1, 2019.
Local Government Impact
No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
