IN RE:
SB756 by Hinojosa (relating to the administration of the Jobs and Education for Texans (JET) Grant program.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Education Code relating to the administration of the Jobs and Education for Texans (JET) Grant program. The bill would allow nonprofit organizations to become an eligible recipient of JET grant funds to prepare low-income students for careers in high-demand occupations. This analysis assumes that the allowance of grants to nonprofit organizations would have a minimal effect on the overall level of awards.
Based on the analysis of the Texas Workforce Commission, it is assumed that the duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.
The bill would take effect on September 1, 2019.
Local Government Impact
No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
