SB961 by Bettencourt (Relating to the issuance of a citation for a criminal trespass offense punishable as a Class B misdemeanor.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure to add certain misdemeanor criminal trespass offenses to the list of offenses that qualify for a citation to appear before a magistrate.

According to the Office of Court Administration, no significant fiscal impact to the state court system is anticipated.

Local Government Impact

According to the Office of Court Administration, no significant fiscal impact to local courts is anticipated.

According to the Texas Municipal League, no significant impact to cities is anticipated.

According to the Texas Association of Counties, the bill could produce savings in county jail costs; however, the dollar amount of these potential savings cannot be determined.
