No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The Public Utility Commission anticipates that any work resulting from the bill would be absorbed within existing resources.

Local Government Impact

The City of Austin and Austin Energy anticipate a fiscal impact from the bill. Austin Energy estimates necessary upgrades for software and technology at $40.0 million in Fiscal Year 2020. Additional staff, ongoing software and technology maintenance, new marketing and customer relations needs, hiring of consultants and attorneys, and increased cost of debt is estimated at $12.3 million for FY 2020, $13.3 million for FY 2022, $14.0 million for FY 2023, and $14.9 million for FY 2024.
