IN RE:
SB1109 by Lucio (Relating to a public outreach campaign for aging adults with visual impairments.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would require the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) to conduct public awareness and outreach campaigns for aging adults who are blind or visually impaired by attending health fairs and working with relevant organizations and groups. The bill would also require HHSC to establish a toll-free number, post resources on their website, and designate an ombudsman to assist with locating and obtaining appropriate services. It is assumed that the provisions of the bill could be implemented using existing resources. The bill would take effect September 1, 2019.
