IN RE:
SB1229 by Bettencourt (relating to a county, city, or independent school district posting election results on an Internet website.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Election Code to require a county that holds or provides election services for an election administered by the county and a city or independent school district that holds an election to post on its public Internet website, provided it maintains one, certain information about the results of those elections. The bill specifies certain requirements for the location of the required information.

According to the Secretary of State, the bill would have no significant fiscal impact. The office would update advisory materials and certification procedures within existing resources.

Local Government Impact

According to Hays County, the county does not expect a fiscal impact from the bill.

According to the Texas Municipal League, the fiscal effect of the bill cannot be determined. It is unknown whether the provisions of the bill would require reprogramming to accomplish its requirement.
