No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Property Code to modify the procedures used by landlords to calculate certain late fees that may be charged a residential tenant due to timely failure to pay rent. The bill would also establish a certain percent of rent for the rental period as a reasonable late fee, subject to certain conditions.
