FROM:
John McGeady, Assistant Director Sarah Keyton, Assistant Director Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
SB1564 by West (Relating to access to medication-assisted treatment for opioid use disorder under Medicaid.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would require the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) to amend certain policies to authorize Medicaid reimbursement for the prescribing of buprenorphine for the treatment of an opioid use disorder by an advanced practice registered nurse meeting certain Texas Board of Nursing and federal requirements. HHSC estimates there would be a minimal cost associated with implementing the provisions of the bill. It is assumed that costs could be absorbed within existing agency resources.
Local Government Impact
No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
