No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend Chapter 1701, Occupations Code, by adding Subchapter O to allow a peace officer to administer epinephrine for the emergency treatment of anaphylaxis. The peace officer is to complete a training course approved by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) in consultation with the Department of State Health Services (DSHS).
According to TCOLE and DSHS, no significant fiscal impact is anticipated. Any increase in workload could be absorbed within existing resources.
The bill would take effect September 1, 2019.
