No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure and the Government Code to rename the Justice Court Technology Fund to the Justice Court Assistance and Technology Fund and allow the funds to be used to pay the cost of providing court personnel in a justice court, including costs associated with salary, benefits, and continuing education.
Based on the analysis of the Office of Court Administration, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished using existing resources.
The bill would take effect September 1, 2019.
