IN RE:
SB1854 by Paxton (Relating to the inclusion of local school health advisory councils as governmental bodies for purposes of the open meetings law and the public information law.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Government Code to add local school health advisory councils to the list of entities considered to be governmental bodies subject to the Public Information Act.
According to the Office of the Attorney General (OAG), while the office may see a slight increase in requests for Attorney General Decisions, review of these files would not require significantly more resources than the review that occurs under current law.
Local Government Impact
According to OAG, there would likely be no significant fiscal impact to local governments.
According to the Texas Education Agency, the fiscal impact on school districts would be limited to conducting open meetings and processing public information requests for the local school health advisory council; school districts' costs to comply with this bill should be minimal.
