LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 86TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 8, 2019

TO:
Honorable Joan Huffman, Chair, Senate Committee on State Affairs

FROM:
John McGeady, Assistant Director     Sarah Keyton, Assistant Director
Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB1899 by Fallon (Relating to the dismissal of certain actions relating to Medicaid fraud.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Based on analysis by the Office of the Attorney General, the provisions of the bill relating to Medicaid fraud prosecutions could result in increased revenue from legal settlements and judgements and a positive fiscal impact to the state. However, the frequency and amount of these settlements cannot be estimated and the costs of the bill cannot be determined at this time.

Based on analysis by the Office of Court Administration, any costs to implement the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
